The truth about most grocery store meat

You Deserve to Know Where Your Beef Comes From

Most supermarket beef travels thousands of miles, comes from feedlots, and is labeled with terms that don’t tell the full story. That often means lower nutrient quality, unknown sourcing practices, and supporting large-scale systems that prioritize speed over care.

Choosing locally raised beef shares supports small farms, humane animal care, and gives your family cleaner, better-tasting protein you can feel confident about.

Why Families Choose Beef Shares

Stock Your Freezer

Instead of weekly grocery store runs, a beef share fills your freezer with steaks, roasts, and ground beef that can last for months, saving you time and making it easier to plan meals.

Honor the Whole Animal

One cow comes with only 16 ribeyes, but around 160lbs of ground beef. Our beef shares offer an opportunity to honor the whole cow.

Cost Efficient

Your price per pound is reflected from ground beef all the way to prize cuts like the filet or ribeye, giving you a less expensive yet better quality steak.

More Nourishment

Grass-fed beef contains beneficial nutrients like omega-3s, iron, and vitamins. It’s a simple way to bring more nourishing, high-quality protein to your family’s table.

We started this so families like yours could eat with confidence

Meet the Hayek family, the family behind Grateful Red Meat Co.

We’re Marissa and Anthony Hayek,

the family behind Grateful Red Meat Co. right here in Caldwell, NJ. Like many of the families we now serve, we reached a point where we started asking bigger questions about the food on our table. Where did this meat come from? How was it raised? And why didn’t it taste like we remembered?

When we discovered locally raised, grass-fed and finished beef, everything changed, the flavor, the quality, and the peace of mind. We began building relationships with nearby farmers, filling our own freezer, and sharing beef with friends and neighbors who were looking for the same thing: trustworthy, nourishing food without the overwhelm.

We actually started building Grateful Red Meat Co. right before our wedding, dreaming about the kind of life and food culture, we wanted to create for our future family and our community. Today, we do the research, coordination, and heavy lifting so your family can skip the confusion and go straight to meals you feel good about serving , the kind that bring everyone back to the table
